As a bridesmaid you want to do the best you can to make the bride happy. A bridal party so small consisting of one maid of honor and two bridesmaids our wedding duties just doubled so when it came time to plan the bachelorette party we did feel the pressure to make sure our bride has a great time. Luckily, my friend the bride was cool as a cucumber from start to finish. No bridezilla episodes! At all. For her bachelorette party I made the bridal party our own sashes and for the guests who attended they all received a "survival bag" to last them through the night. Let me share with you :)
I had a hard time finding some sashes for the whole bridal party and I happen to come across this hot pink leopard Hello Kitty fabric in my stash so I decided to make them. I gave the bride's sash a little more bling :)
Each guest got their own survival bag that contained the following: hand sanitizer, trail mix, travel size pocket tissue, toilet seat cover, toilet paper, notepad, pen, mardi gras beads, and a whistle in the shape of lips. I'm hoping to find someone who has a picture of us with the whistles.
Our lovely bride ready to party! I got her a shot glass ring from the Dollar Tree! She got a lip whistle mardi gras necklace but I also found her a necklace that had an oversized ring on it from Party City.
The bridal party!!!
And yes, we had a great time thanks for asking :)

Kae Witch Way?
My 2 year old saw some kids at McDonald's dressed in Halloween costumes with one of the little girls dressed as a witch. Kaelyn immediately focused on the witch and wanted to go to her. Maybe this wasn't the best time to ask her what she wanted to be but I did anyway and much to my surprise: she wanted to be a witch. So I asked her what colors she wanted to wear and she simply replied Black and Green. The little girl had purple and orange on so at least I know Kae wasn't completely focused on the girl's outfit. So there began my project of making my daughter's first Halloween costume.
After a good amount of what could have been studying time was spent on Pinterest and YouTube I finally came up with some ideas that were good enough to take to JoAnn's and finally to my own little cutting table aka my dining room table.
I started with the tutu which was actually a lot of fun and completely addicting. I see a lot of tutu's in Kaelyn's future...
The hat was a lot of fun to make but I hit two bumps in the road... This hat in theory is extremely easy. Anyone can make this hat. The florets are optional so this project is definitely at newbie level. Since I was going for green and black witch I decided to turn it into a green flower witch so I went with the florets. First bump.. I totally touched the glue from the HOT glue gun. Not smart. OUCH!
And my second bump...my sewing machine broke down on me.. long story short it's not gonna make it. The cost to repair it almost equals the amount I spent on the machine itself so it's basically got DNR stamped all over it. That's medical talk for Do Not Resuscitate. This whole ordeal took up a good amount of my afternoon but I wasn't going to let it bring me down. I decided to hand sew the remaining part of the hat... for about half an hour. Yeah then I realized this was gonna take so much longer so I went and borrowed my mom's sewing machine. Good thing she was home and knew where it was!
So I was back on track and on my way!
I'm very proud of the fact that I made my daughter's costume. It was soo much fun too - check it out ~
I sorta had her wear the costume immediately after waking from her nap so she isn't quite in the right mindset in the pics. I'm not too sure she even knew where she was at the time..
The hat and the little florets are my fave and I've included a link to the tutorial here.

Hope everyone else has a safe and happy Halloween! This being my first Halloween off from work I know I'm really going to enjoy spending it with my family. I hope you all the same ~

That DAM mud run.
Mud. Run. Two words I don't necessarily believe should be together. So when I was invited to participate in one for a birthday celebration, needless to say I was very hesitant. People who know me will know I'm not a runner... and could already hear me saying OMG dirrrrty!!!
But here I am! Doing a mud run for my brother in laws birthday.
I really thought there was going to be more obstacles than running but we were pretty much running the first half so yes I was last. Once we reached the mud hills the group was more or less reunited. I sure was relieved to see those hills which is something I didn't imagine myself saying but I was so over the running.. but then this happened..
Why yes that is my hair tie. My hair tie. Broke. Right. Before. the MUD.
No turning back now.. I already walked - I mean "ran" - more than halfway and all that was left were these hills so I went for it.. and had a BLAST!
We all made it and everyone seemed to have a great time. It was definitely an experience and one I don't regret doing. I do wish I brought an extra hair tie though cuz that mud caked up my hair like no other.
THINGS I LEARNED:
~ wear sunglasses!
I was so grateful that my bro in law had an extra pair. I don't know what I would've done cuz there was splatter and if any of that gets in your eyes ... I can just see infection growing already...
~ contact lenses...
This was tough for me. I decided to do the mud run blind - scared of infection and scared to break my glasses. after the run i realized i probably coulda done it in my contact lenses with some protective sunglasses. i think this is a preference thing.
~ bring an extra hair tie.
see pic above..nuff said.
~ wear fitting clothes!!
I wore fitted capris but flare out at the bottom. such a mistake - that extra fabric absorbs all the water and mud that it actually weighs you down! i dont know how many times i checked to make sure my pants were even still on as we were trudging through the mud.
~ do not wear nice shoes..
uhh you're walking thigh deep in mud. does this really need to be said? apparently yes.
if you have shoes you were planning to toss then wear them then you can donate them after the run. I should've done this but I forgot to bring sandals.
~ bring sandals!!
read previous comment :)
~ bring a water proof camera
the pics taken during the mud hills were the best and before you can get your stuff you have to wash up first so it was great that my bro in law had his or else I would never have proof that I actually did this.
Would I do it again? mmmm.... let's just say I'm glad I had pictures that I did it :)
